William the 1st later known as William the Conqueror after the Battle of Hastings, married his cousin Matilda of Flanders at the cathedral of Notre Dame in Eu. Normandy in 1053. He was 26 and she was 22. They later had 10 children, 4 sons and 6 daughters.
